The Viking Blacksmith confirms attendance at Fair!

Jens Christian Pilgaard is from Denmark and started tying flies in 1986. Then in 1995 he thought it would be fun to participate in Mustad Scandinavian Open tying contest and did so for the next 3 seasons. He was fortunate enough to achieve some bronze, silver and a single Gold medal.
Since then he has been tying flies at shows in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, UK and USA. He likes to tie with Origami Wings for dry flies, superrealistics and nymphs but is also very fond of tying the old classic salmon flies.

Besides fly-tying, he makes a living out of forging Viking items like swords, axes and other things that can be forged by hand. He makes knives and Viking silver jewelry and a million other things related to Viking age www.knifeblades.dk

USA fly tyer

Glenn R. Weisner has been tying flies since a seventh grade science fair project and has honed his skills - thanks in part to private lessons, workshops and personal coaching from life-long friend Chris Helm. Glenn enjoys tying "most all" trout flies and is recognized for his interest in Midge patterns and Terrestrials. Glenn founded Glenn River Fly Co. Ltd (www.glennriver.com) in 2000 and developed the “Fly-Kit”tm (a pattern specific fly-tying kit) to help individuals have a more enjoyable fly-tying experience. Glenn also conducts fly-tying workshops and on-stream educational fly-fishing sessions. He has several high quality fly-tying instructional DVD's and is featured in Flytyers of the World (Volume 3) by VEM Publishing. He has competed in the Mustad Scandinavian International Fly Tying Competition several times, placing in the top 10 every time.

Irish shrimp patterns and tube flies

Brendan Garland has been tying flies for only 4 years and praises "wonderful teachers" such as Pete Kealey and Andrew McGall. He ties all types of flies but favours Irish shrimp pattern flies and any other flies for Atlantic Salmon. He fishes on the Mourne, the Moy, the Drowes and the Glenarm rivers. At the angling fair, he will probably tie Irish shrimp flies and / or tube flies.

Aberdeen fly tyer

Mike Townend lives and works in Aberdeen. He's been tying fishing flies since the age of 12 and about 4 years ago he came across classic salmon flies and decided to give them a try. At the end of last year, he was involved in tying 10 classics for a book by Michael Radencich which is due to be published in 2012. His favourite style at the moment is "mixed wings" which he will demonstrate at the show.
